Holsworthy Around and About
Holsworthy is a small town with big town amenities.
A memorial Hall which is the envy of many neighbours, Swimming Pool, Sports Hall, all set in the beautiful North West Devon country side.
If its Golf, fishing, walking or cycling then Holsworthy is the place for you.
The recent recession has caused the closure of a certain number of businesses, however the shops remaining are of a very high quality, from Ladies fashions and Gents outfitters, to a first class local butchers, a delightful florist, Health food, fruiter, equine equipment, an excellent sports shop, kitchen equipment plus a high class superstore to name but a few. A look around the industrial estate will open your eyes to the many retail outlets which are readily available in our town. Should you require financial aid after your shopping, Holsworthy has four of the nations big banks available for your needs.
Granted a Charter by Henry II in 1154, on Wednesday's the town is alive with visitors and locals both at the Pannier Market in the square or at the Livestock Market, which is one of the largest in the South West.
For your refreshment there are five hostelries including a prize winning real ale establishment, with food galore, a coffee shop, two fish and chip establishments, plus an Indian Restaurant, a Chinese take away, a kebab take away and fast food outlet.
Should you require a rest after all this excitement, why not take a stroll around Stanhope Park, or spend a peaceful moment in the Badock Garden.
